Koala bears are having a problem with STDs. Chlamydia is ravaging the Australian marsupials, with some populations suffering a 100% infection rate. The disease is also easily passed over to baby koalas who are exposed in their mothers' pouches. Scientists have tried to use anti-biotics but some fear the treatment may be making it harder for their bodies to process eucalyptus, their primary food.
The study is published in the journal "PeerJ."
